Jesus sets free

[The Glory Unveiled]

Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” [ John 8:32 NIV ]

The Lord Jesus asked this question, “Who do men say that I am?” He was teaching His disciples a profound truth. He asked them this question prior to telling them that the Truth frees people who know it. Our relational knowledge of Jesus is the thing that frees us. It is not the mental capacity to understand or recall what the scripture says about Jesus that frees us, even though there is some kind of deliverance that comes from knowing about Jesus. But true freedom comes from having a relationship with Jesus and growing in that relationship. It is about coming to know the heart of Jesus, seeing Him for who He is and embracing His personality. “Knowing the truth” as our anchor scripture puts it has to do with knowing the person of Jesus and not necessarily the texts that speak about Him. Nicodemus was a learned man and a Pharisee. He knew so much about what is recorded about Jesus but he didn’t have any relationship with Him. And so, he found himself trapped. One day, He had to come face to face with Jesus to start a relationship with Him. (John 3:1-2) In the opening of the verse 2, Nicodemus said, “we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him.” So, we see that Nicodemus knew about Jesus but He didn’t know Him through a relationship. And this was why Jesus had to take him to the beginning, through the initiation of relating with Him—born again. The same applies to anyone who needs freedom like Nicodemus needed. We must know Him through a living relationship with Him and not merely through religious theatrics. Jesus longs for a relationship with us. Come to Him through an intentional relationship and be set free.

Prayer_Bead: Saviour and Redeemer, thank you for your willingness to save me. I surrender to you in a lifelong commitment to you. Free me from the things that hold me back. Amen.

The power of sonship

[The Glory Unveiled]

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: [ John 1:12 KJV ]

Gifts may be freely given but whether or not they are received depends solely on the recipient. The power to save is available to the world but accessible to only those who receive the Lordship of Christ. Our faith in the son of God is the system that gives us access to the life of God in Him. And because this faith must be rooted in Christ, only those who have heard and believed in the message of the Son can have it. Receiving Him means believing in His name; in His authority. The power of sonship into the family of God does not automatically happen because we go to church or do anything religious. The sonship privilege is given when we believe in Christ. Faith is the means by which the life of God in Christ is imputed to humanity. The power that makes us joint heirs with Christ does not discriminate between people. Whoever we are, whatever tribe or language we belong to, if we come to believe in Jesus, the power of sonship extends the privilege to belong to God. We become identified in Christ as members of His body. And we receive the gift of God in that moment, when we believe in Christ. The apostle Paul teaches that the gift was originally meant for a certain people, the Jews, but then they rejected it. And through their rejection, we have access to this gift. Yet, by our acceptance, they will be brought in by jealousy (References; Romans 9-11). So, right now is your window of opportunity. Take advantage of this gift and become a child of God.

Prayer_Bead: Father, thank you for the privilege to be your son by the sacrifice of your only begotten son.

Wisdom_Quote: The gift of God is made available to all who will take advantage of it.

Lover and God

[The Glory Unveiled]

Or do you think Scripture says without reason that he jealously longs for the spirit he has caused to dwell in us? [ James 4:5 NIV ]

Our Heavenly Father longs for us. In the garden of Eden account, he consistently came to the man and the woman in the cool of the day. God could have stayed wherever He was and relate with man from a distance but He came to them. He wanted a relationship from a close proximity, an intimate fellowship. God had always longed to be tabernacled in us. Even when we sinned He still came after us in love, as if He had forgotten or didn’t notice what we had done. He couldn’t let go of us because He deposited something in us that He cannot ignore. He fashioned us in His image and likeness, as such, we carry within us a part of Him. For this reason, he will not leave us in destruction and doom. He will travel through time and infinity, to redeem and love us. We will pay any prof for our fellowship and communion with Him. It is for this reason God does not desire that we fraternize with the world because friendship with the world is enmity against God (James 4:4). God longs so much to remain in fellowship with us. The spirit He gave us is a crucial part of Him He will not let go of. And so, even in our unfaithfulness, God remains faithful to Himself and His person. God wants a relationship with you today. Don’t draw away from Him. Accept His invitation.

Prayer_Bead: Lover of my soul, thank you for how much you love me. And what length you are willing to go for me. I am eternally grateful._

A living hope

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, [ *1 Peter 1:3* NIV ]

The absence of hope in a place or a situation is death to that place or situation. Hope means life and untapped opportunities. Where there is hope, there is a reason to keep at something even when the results are not immediate or as expected. Hope says, we don’t quit even when everything is quiet. Hope says regardless of what the eye is seeing presently, what eyes have not seen and what ears have not heard is still possible. So, hope does not die if the object of the hope is alive. A living hope thrives in any and every environment. Now, it is this hope that Jesus brings us into when we became born again through the mercy of God. And this hope is living because Jesus resurrected and is now alive forever. Hope can be dead when the object and the drive for that hope is dead. Hence, our hope is living because it is sourced from the resurrected Jesus. Our hope is not living because we are strong or have a strong faith. Our hope is living because the object of our faith, Jesus is alive. The Lord Jesus rose from the dead and is alive forever. As believers, we have been born into a living hope, giving us the guarantee of a supernatural life. You have a living hope if you have been born again by your faith in Christ Jesus. Make your faith count because your hope is alive.  And in view of all these, let us live daily in appreciation God.

Prayer_Bead: Heavenly Father, thank you for the privilege of salvation and all the packages that come with it in Christ Jesus.

Wisdom_Quote: Hope says, we don’t quit even when everything is quiet.

All is Possible with God.

[The Glory Unveiled]

And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God. [ Luke 18:27 KJV ]

The “Omni” attributes of God distinguish Him from all men and every other god. There are things in life we cannot understand nor handle. They are simply out of our control, beyond the reach of natural ability. For such things, we say they are supernatural. The supernatural differentiates between the abilities of humanity and divinity. The statement above was made by Jesus, suggesting that certain things are impossible for humans. And this is not because humans are weak or sinful. God in His wisdom just kept them from them. So that they can depend on God for their complete existence. If men were able to do everything, we would not have had a need for an all knowing, all powerful God. But God in His wisdom kept some things from us so that we can depend on Him in all things, ultimately. But then when He said that the things that are impossible with us are possible with God, He did not only mean possible for God but also possible with God. This means the things that are humanly impossible become humanly possible with God involved in it. When we include God in our endeavors, He turns impossible around and makes it possible. So if you are faced with an impossible task or situation, face it with God and impossibility will become possible. Maybe what seems impossible remains impossible because you kept God out of it.

Prayer_Bead: Impossibility changer, thank you for making the impossibles in my life possible by your help.

Wisdom_Quote: Impossible is the vocabulary of mortals.
