Priesthood of believers II

[The Glory Unveiled]

And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth. [ Revelation 5:10 KJV ]

As priests unto God, we bear responsibilities towards ourselves and God, which are tethered to specific protocols. The Levitical priesthood adhered to particular protocols in executing their duties, and believers in Christ are not exempt from God’s presence protocols. While the protocols of the Levitical order involved rituals and statutes, the New Testament priesthood protocols center on obedience, total alliance, and reliance on Jesus Christ. This complete dependence grants us boldness. We approach God’s presence in fulfilling our priestly duties of offering spiritual sacrifices based on what Jesus accomplished, and our sacrifices find acceptance as they go to God through Jesus Christ (1 Peter 2:5). In the Old Testament, the people’s sacrifices offended God due to the position from which they were offered. God values the state of our hearts more than our sacrifices. Another crucial aspect is beholding Jesus. Even though we attain right standing with God through Jesus when born again, a vital protocol in God’s presence is to behold Jesus, the gateway into the heart of God. Failing to keep our focus on Jesus may confine us to the outer courts, locked away from the tangible presence of God, as observed in the Levitical priesthood. For us as, New Testament priests, we must enter the inner courts by beholding Jesus. Amidst these actions, it is imperative to choose and use our words carefully.

Prayer_Bead: Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for showing me the things I need to do in my service as king and priest and helping me to do them!

Wisdom_Quote: Boldness is the result of competence generated from consistent practice.

Walk with God

[The Glory Unveiled]

Enoch walked faithfully with God; then he was no more, because God took him away. [ Genesis 5:24 NIV ]

Jonah was swallowed by a huge fish because he found himself in the fish’s environment. Over time, our surroundings can engulf us, shaping us to reflect their culture when we are part of a community. This aligns with the biblical wisdom in Psalms 1:1-6, emphasizing the importance of avoiding ungodly counsel to avoid destruction. Moses spent forty days and nights in God’s presence, leading to a transformative experience where his appearance mirrored the identity of God. He became a god to Aaron and all of Egypt. Similarly, Enoch, despite living in an environment resistant to God, faithfully walked with Him, resisting societal norms. His close fellowship with God resulted in being taken by God, illustrating the power of unwavering devotion. Emulating Enoch, we should choose to walk faithfully with God, even when our world opposes such a path. Through this commitment, we undergo an inner transformation, becoming inseparable from God, rendering our environment and its elements powerless. Throughout recorded history, those who walked with God experienced profound transformation, ultimately merging into God. Choosing to walk with Him transcends the challenges of seasons and times, granting dominion over adversities. God’s presence accompanies you through both water and fire, ensuring favour in every path taken. May our hearts be filled with a constant love and desire for God, leading to a timeless and unwavering fellowship.

Prayer_Bead: Almighty God, thank you for the privilege to walk with you faithfully. Help me in that regard until I am swallowed up in you. In Jesus’ name.

Wisdom_Quote: A man who walks with God gets swallowed up in God.

The cost of knowing Jesus

[The Glory Unveiled]

“To truly know him meant letting go of everything from my past and throwing all my boasting on the garbage heap. It’s all like a pile of manure to me now, so that I may be enriched in the reality of knowing Jesus Christ and embrace him as Lord in all of his greatness.” [ Philippians‬ ‭3‬:‭8‬ ‭TPT‬‬ ]

There is always an attitude and an approach to knowledge acquisition. Acquiring knowledge involves letting go of something: ignorance. On the journey of gaining knowledge, letting go of ignorance is a non-negotiable step. In the case of the apostle Paul and his quest to know Jesus, he had to relinquish everything from his past, including boasting and arrogance. Whatever he thought he knew hindered his true understanding of Jesus. So, he had to let go of his preconceived notions. Interestingly, Paul refers to the negative aspects of his past as “manure,” suggesting that even bad experiences and erroneous information can fertilize our new knowledge experiences if we’re willing to release them. A wise inventor once remarked, “The mistakes I made in the past show me ways that something wouldn’t work out.” In our pursuit of the knowledge of God, sincerity is crucial. We must confront truth and reality, acknowledging that what we think we know might impede our true understanding. To grasp what we need to know, we must release what we already know, just as the apostle Paul did. The Holy Spirit assists us in this process if we allow Him since He is the greatest teacher. In Paul’s attempt to know Jesus, he emphasizes the strategy of letting go of the past in verse 13, choosing to forget what’s behind and focus on the future. Following his example can be beneficial in our own pursuit of knowledge.

Prayer_Bead: Omniscient God, thank you for your grace and the privilege of knowing your Son Jesus Christ.

Wisdom_Quote: Forget the past, aim for the future.

The mind of a new creation

[The Glory Unveiled]

“For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds on them].” [ Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭8 AMPC‬‬ ]

The mind can be like a boundless ocean, wandering and lingering in many wonderlands of thought. However, we can determine the continuous habitual preoccupation of our minds by consistently feeding it with specific content. The saying, “You cannot stop birds from passing over your head, but you can decide whether or not they make nests in your hair,” holds true in this context. We have the right to decide the course of our lives. The soul, governed by the mind—comprising our emotions, desires, intellect, and will—can be influenced by what it is familiar with. This influence is why, even though the old sinful nature may die in a born-again Christian, they sometimes live as if they are not renewed, behaving exactly as they did before encountering Jesus. The life they led before becoming born again becomes imprinted in the mind, emotions, and desires. So, even after an individual becomes born again and their spirit is renewed, the mind retains the old data of the acts of the flesh. This is where we need to renew our minds, deleting the old data and filling our mental system with new information consistent with our new nature. Our anchor scripture guides us on how to acquire new data, focusing on things that are true, worthy of reverence, honorable, just, pure, lovely, lovable, kind, winsome, gracious, virtuous, excellent, and praiseworthy. This guideline directs us to receive data for renewing our minds, and encourages daily contemplation of these things.

Prayer_Bead: Omniscient Creator, thank You for the privilege to have my mind renewed from dead works. Glory to your name.

Wisdom_Quote: An unguided mind is the canvas of a boundless ocean.

Joint checking account

[The Glory Unveiled]

Now if we are children, then we are heirs —heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. [ Romans 8:17 NIV ]

The love of God is unfathomable. It may seem preposterous for God to bestow His inheritance upon us, who rejected Him through our disobedience. However, this is the reality. As 1 John 3:1 tells us, “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.” In his commentary on the book of Romans, Andrew Wommack explains our anchor text as follows: When two people share a joint checking account, one cannot withdraw money without the signature of the other. Jesus is our joint-heir, which means we share the inheritance account with Him. Even though we may be tempted to sign away our inheritance, as Esau and Adam did, the Lord will never cooperate with that. He will not put His signature on any of our bad choices. Adam was not a joint-heir with Jesus; his joint-heir was Eve, and they both sinned by signing away the account. However, as joint-heirs with Jesus, He will not yield to our lusts and disobedience. He will prompt us, through His Spirit, to live in agreement with God’s will and desires. As co-holders of God’s inheritance account, everything that Christ Jesus has access to is potentially ours too. When we align with Jesus and His sufferings, we can appropriate the inheritance to bring glory to God. Unfortunately, many desire the inheritance without accepting the accompanying suffering, and this is where they rob themselves. Don’t rob yourself.

Prayer_Bead: Father in Heaven, thank you for bringing me into your inheritance through Christ Jesus. I am an heir and a co-heir with Christ. Amen.

Wisdom_Quote: We are joint checking account holders with Jesus.

Today’s suffering, tomorrow’s glory

[The Glory Unveiled]

“I am convinced that any suffering we endure is less than nothing compared to the magnitude of glory that is about to be unveiled within us.” [ Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭18‬ TPT‬ ]

Often, when God seeks a deliverer, He looks among those in bondage. When He searches for a freedom fighter, He finds them among those in bondage. Before God appoints a man or woman to lead others out of a situation, that individual would have experienced it firsthand. This firsthand experience of pain and suffering is something that cannot be taught. Gideon was considered weak and the least among the least, yet God chose him over the strong and wealthy. God handpicked a man in whom nobody would trust their lives. What you’re currently going through is preparing you to emancipate others. Nazareth was a town despised by many, with some believing that nothing good could come from it. However, Jesus, the Savior of humanity and all creation, emerged from Nazareth. Your current trials are necessary for delivering others who may endure the same challenges later. What you’re experiencing now serves as your resume for becoming a solution to others. You can’t effectively solve problems you haven’t personally experienced. Your sufferings and struggles are unveiling the hidden glory beneath your true calling, serving as the seeds for the glory that will be revealed. Therefore, view your unique challenges from the perspective of glory and purpose rather than punishment. It’s possible that future generations will rely on your endurance and patience during times of suffering to fulfill their own purpose. Don’t give up, endure a little longer. In no time, you will be called a champion.

Prayer_Bead: Omnipotent God, thank you for the things you allow me to go through for the sake of other people. Please help me to be diligent till the end.

Wisdom_Quote: Your suffering today is the ticket for someone’s freedom tomorrow.

How many times did you hear?

[The Glory Unveiled]

God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God. [ Psalms 62:11 KJV ]

If you checked, you would discover that very few people ask God for anything. And fewer people ask for a confirmation of what is claimed to have been said by God. David, the author of the Psalms above is known to always seek confirmation on any matter. No wonder he was a wise king. From his youth, he was known to always seek a second opinion. For instance, when he came to visit his brothers on the battlefield and discovered his nation needed a man to face Goliath and that there was a prize for the man who conquered Goliath, he asked twice. (See 1 Samuel 17:27;30). Whenever he faced an army he will always enquired of God to be sure God was leading him there. And often, he enquired twice. When the Amalekites burned his city and took his wives, he didn’t impulsively chase after the Amalekites even though the lives of his wives were at stake and his properties were taken. He waited on God. He sought for confirmation before he pursued the enemy. (See 1 Samuel 30:8). The natural response to such a situation would be to chase after the enemy without thinking twice about it. But that style is the reason why many people are frustrated and upset with their lives. Nothing is what it is at face value. Many things only have the appearance of what we may think or desire, but not exactly those things in themselves. God speaks once, but we can hear Him twice if we ask for confirmation of what He had said. Don’t assume what you think God said is what God said. Ask again. Seek clarity, confirm it.

Prayer_Bead: God of Wonders, thank you for the wonder of your personality. Help me to always seek confirmation on every matter so that I will not be deceived.

Wisdom_Quote: You cannot be too sure, confirm what you heard.

Thanksgiving power

[The Glory Unveiled]

Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. [ John 11:41 ]

One notable thing about Jesus’ ministry is honour. Many times, it was displayed through thanksgiving. Jesus gave thanks over everything, from the 5 loaves of bread to the last meal with his disciples. At the tomb of Lazarus, after Jesus instructed the people to roll away the stone that was placed at the entrance of the tomb, he lifted up His eyes and began to thank the Father for hearing Him. This was before the expected miracle happened. Jesus expressed gratitude for what was yet to come—an expression of faith. Thanksgiving is an indication of many positive things to the believer. It guarantees that we are heard whenever we come to the Father in prayer. Also, thanksgiving is a spiritual shortcut that opens the door to supernatural possibilities. The situation of Lazarus had deteriorated beyond normal expectations and so, there was the urgency for swift answers. So, Jesus decided to employ the spiritual shortcut tool of thanksgiving. There is so much power in thanksgiving but it is often ignored and missed by many because we are used to working ourselves out for results. Hence, thanksgiving is perceived to be too easy to bring about the results we desire. While in fact, it is the fastest route to the most complex breakthroughs. Thanksgiving also, activates resurrection power. Thanksgiving has a way of awakening anything that is dying or dead and brings it back to life [multiplication]. After the stone [blockade] is taken away by the word of God, as it happened at the tomb of Lazarus, thanksgiving is the next thing that is expected to bring about the change you seek. Go ahead. Thank God.

Prayer_Bead: Thank you Father, we appreciate you for the things you have done for us today and everyday. Let your name be glorified in us.

Wisdom_Quote: Thanksgiving is the fastest route to the most complicated breakthroughs.

There is provision

[The Glory Unveiled]

When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! [ Luke 15:17 NIV ]

Pride manifests in many different forms; some in more subtle manners than others. One of such subtle manifestations is a strong confidence in one’s ability rather than in the providence of God. Which usually happens when we drift from God in intimate fellowship. The “prodigal son” in Luke 15, lacked nothing when he was in close fellowship with his father. But when he broke the fellowship and left home, he began to be in need. So much that he starved and had to beg for food to survive. Many people are starving and dying, not because there is no provision to meet their needs but because they are too arrogant to ask for help. God in His wisdom and sovereignty created us to be dependent on Him, sometimes manifested through our dependence on one another as humans. If we must ask for help, let us ask in sincerity without pride. Unfortunately, many times, we wait until it’s almost too late before we turn to God; when we come to the end of ourselves, like the prodigal son. The prodigal son waited until his situation degenerated almost beyond salvage. But thanks be to God who is abundant in mercy. So, instead of waiting until it is almost too late, let us come to God in absolute humility. There is enough provisions to meet all our needs for innumerable lifetimes. But all that provision is not without the Father. We cannot enjoy the common wealth of heaven without being in constant communion with the Father. Though it is a common wealth, it is only common among those who are perpetually depending on the Father. The common wealth of heaven caters for the welfare of the people who are not offended with being submitted to the Father.

Prayer_Bead: Aba Father, Jehovah Jireh, thank you for the everyday provisions from your divine bounty. I submit to you for my every need.

Wisdom_Quote: Don’t starve when you have a welfare package.

Another man

[The Glory Unveiled]

And the Spirit of the LORD will come upon thee, and thou shalt prophesy with them, and shalt be turned into another man. [ 1 Samuel 10:6 KJV ]

There is a version of us that the world has not yet seen. Indeed eyes have not seen, ears have not heard nor hearts conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him (1 Corinthians 2:9). There is much more than we are experiencing and displaying of our lives. Gideon couldn’t believe that he could save his family, talk less of saving his nation (Judges 6:15). That other man; the mighty man of valour was hidden within him until he let it out. The Bible records other people who were “another men” but only entered that otherness after they had encountered the Lord. Jacob changed to Israel (another man), Abram to Abraham (another man), Elisha became another man when he took the mantle of Elijah, Moses became another man after the burning bush experience, Samson became another man whenever the spirit of God came upon him. These transformations into another man happened in the Old Testament by different means even though the Spirit of God was in the background for them all. In the New Testament, we become another man through intimacy with God; in prayer. 2 Corinthians 3:18 says we are changed into another man; the man Jesus as we behold His glory [face] like in a mirror. We behold until He is formed in us. Moses beheld God on the mountain until he radiated God when he came down. We are supposed to do same through our fellowship with God until we became another man. One who can do business in deep waters on behalf of the kingdom of God. The Spirit of God came upon Saul and he became another man, so that the people who saw and heard him marveled at him. The world will only marvel at the glory we are only after we become another man. Keep beholding His face.

Prayer_Bead: Loving Father, thank you for all your provisions for me. Help me to behold you until I’m formed as the other man that I am. So help me, in Jesus’ name.

Wisdom_Quote: There is another layer of God reality hidden within you.
