Lamp for your feet

[The Glory Unveiled]

Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. [  Psalm 119:105 NIV ]

Paths and feet lead to places. Whenever we see a path, it indicates a place—a destination. And to get to these destinations, we have been given our feet, the vehicle that transports us from our starting point, through the path, to our desired end. But even when you have a clear path and a good pair of feet, without light you still might not reach your destination.

In this world, God’s Word is our light. Without this light, our paths become darkened, and our hope of reaching our destinations is shattered. Yet the truth is that this light is always available—if we choose to walk in its brilliance. We must deliberately choose to walk in the light of God’s Word if we want to arrive at God’s intended destination for humanity. The Word of God will light our path and our feet, but only if we first accept the One who gives the light. Without the Light-Giver, we cannot have the light for our path or for our feet. So stop wondering why your way seems dark when light has already been offered. Come to the Light-Giver, Jesus Christ, and receive His free gift that illuminates the path for everyone (see John 1:9).

Prayer_Bead: Heavenly Father, thank you for your light that guides my steps and my ways. Help me to remain in your light each passing day.

[The Glory Unveiled]

Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. [ Acts 17:11 NIV ]

The apostle Paul was an itinerant minister—never tied to a single parish, always on the move between churches. Because of that urgency, when he did stand before a congregation he often poured out more truth than time seemed to allow. Think of Acts 20:7: Paul stayed until midnight, teaching with such intensity that a young man named Eutychus fell asleep and tumbled from a window. When the preacher speaks with that kind of overflow, it’s impossible to unpack and verify every scripture he quotes in a single sitting. That is exactly why the Bereans stand as a model for us. When Paul came to them they didn’t take his words at face value; they examined the Scriptures daily to see if what he taught was true (Acts 17:10–11). They were not passive consumers of sermon content — they were careful students of God’s Word. By contrast, many in Thessalonica and many of us today listen once and move on, assuming that hearing is the same as knowing. Beloved, listening is vital—but it is not enough. We must cultivate the discipline of the Bereans: review your notes, test the teaching, search the passages referenced, and ask the Holy Spirit for discernment. Let the Word sit under the light of Scripture so error is exposed and truth is confirmed. So don’t be satisfied with being merely entertained or informed. Be transformed. Cross-examine every sermon with Scripture and the Spirit, and receive only what stands the test of God’s own Word.

Prayer_Bead: Father, thank you for opening my understanding to the need to validate what I listen to with your word. Help me to eagerly examine the scriptures when I hear them.

Wisdom_Quote: Dont accept every scripture as truth until you have examined them with the Holy Spirit.

The Examiner

[The Glory Unveiled]

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. [ 2 Timothy 2:15 KJV ]

The preacher of the gospel must embody the gospel they proclaim. When we speak of the Good News, our lives should be the first evidence that what we declare is true. Before we stand to deliver the Word of truth, we must first sit under it. Before we preach it, we must allow it to shape, cleanse, and transform us. We do not study Scripture merely to gather information or accumulate impressive knowledge. We study it to draw out the life within it—a life meant to influence us first. And when the Word has changed us, that change becomes the living testimony we carry into the world. People should be able to look at us and see the very message we preach shining through our attitudes, decisions, and character. This is why Scripture says we must “study to show ourselves approved unto God.” Not approved by people, not applauded by crowds, but approved by God—because the Word has so penetrated our hearts that we begin to resemble the very truth we proclaim. When the Word has worked deeply enough that we stand unashamed, irreproachable, and transformed, then and only then can we rightly divide and rightly deliver the Word of truth. So study. Study deeply. Study consistently. And above all, give the Word of God unrestricted access to your life. Let it do its work in you, so that through you, it may work in others.

Prayer_Bead: Father, have your way in me through your word. I withhold nothing from you henceforth. In Jesus name.

Wisdom_Quote: Before you preach to others, let the word preach to your life first.

Full of the Word

[The Glory Unveiled]

We can only give what we possess. When the clouds are full of water, they pour out rain. In the same way, the output of a life is always determined by its input. No one can give what they do not have. You cannot give a million dollars if a million dollars is not already in your possession. To give something—consistently and meaningfully—means you have it in abundance. That is why Scripture says, “Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.” Whatever flows from our lips is simply the overflow of what our hearts are carrying. If the heart is full of fear, fear comes out. If it is full of bitterness, bitterness spills over. But if it is filled with the Word of God, then truth and life will flow. We are therefore instructed to let the Word of Christ dwell in us richly, so that we may teach and admonish others. You cannot teach what you do not know. You cannot impart what you have not first received. This is why we must be filled—deeply, richly, continually—with the Word of God, allowing the Holy Spirit to train, correct, and shape us from within. When the Word dwells richly in us, we become able to teach others with wisdom. We can minister through psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. We can release what we carry through whatever means God gives—because we are full. So allow the Word of God to saturate your heart. Do not stifle the Spirit who teaches you. Be teachable, be open, be filled—so that from the abundance within you, life can flow to others.

Prayer_Bead: Heavenly Father, thank you for helping me allow your word dwell richly in me.

Wisdom_Quote: You can only give what you have.

Choose your path

[The Glory Unveiled]

Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked… but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. [ Psalm 1:1–2 NIV ]

We are shaped—and often defined—by the company we keep. You can often predict a person’s direction, and even their downfall, simply by observing their associations. The truth is this: we are free to choose who we walk with, but we are not free to escape the consequences that come with those choices. God will not force us to walk with the righteous, yet when we do, the blessings that follow speak for themselves. Scripture gives us the surest guideline for guarding our steps: delight in the law of the Lord and meditate on it day and night. When the Word fills our thoughts, it begins to shape our choices. When we ponder Scripture continually, we are positioned to live by what it says. And as we meditate on the Word, grace is supplied to help us walk it out. But consistency in this lifestyle requires more than routine—it requires delight. We must hunger for God’s Word, thirst for its truth, and desire its instruction more than the world’s influence. Then the truth we embrace and meditate on will set us free—free from ungodly patterns, free from destructive associations, free from the lifestyle of the wicked.

Delight in the Word, and the Word will direct your steps.

Prayer_Bead: Holy Father, thank you for your word that guides me and directs the course of my life. Help me to delight in your word and meditate on it daily.

The law of Reciprocity

[The Glory Unveiled ]

Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” [ Luke 6:38 NIV ]

The law of reciprocity states that people tend to respond to a positive action with positive actions. In other words, what you give will be given back to you. But often with interests, a good measure of what had been given. It would seem that God gives to us more quickly when we demonstrate our willingness to give to Him or others first. A quick search through scripture will prove this observation to be true. We see the Zarephath woman blessed in famine with more flour and oil than she will ever need because she gave first to Elijah. The little boy who carried five loaves of bread and two fishes had the bread and the fish multiplied because he was willing to give it out to strangers to eat. Whenever we give to others, God gives back to us. God who is faithful even when we are unfaithful blesses those who give to others. Unfortunately, this scripture is often associated with offerings and alms giving alone. But then, the “give” in that verse is not just about money. But giving our time, energy and resources as well. So whenever we have opportunity, let us give with the understanding that the law of reciprocity works.

Prayer_Bead: Father, thank you for the privilege to be your son because of the giving away of your only begotten Son.

Wisdom_Quote: Give and it will return to you.

Intimacy with Jesus

[The Glory Unveiled]

Whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked. [ 1 John 2:6 NIV ]

Every form of intimacy produces some kind of fruit. If we claim to have intimacy with God then some fruit must show for it. Our intimacy with God is not just by saying, “I am intimate with God,” but by bearing fruit, which comes by walking in the footsteps of Jesus. We cannot look like Jesus unless we walk intimately with Him, which cannot happen unless we walk in His footsteps. This means doing exactly what He did and living exactly as He lived. In so doing, we naturally begin to look like Him. So instead of going about telling people what a great Christian or believer we are, let us walk in the footsteps of Jesus and our lives will inadvertently announce it. *The world will change only when they see Jesus not when we say there is a Jesus*. They probably already know there is a Jesus, they now want to see Him, like Thomas, to believe Him. What makes it easier for us to walk in Jesus’ footsteps is the Holy Spirit’s indwelling presence in us. He lives in us, whispering the will of God to us.

Prayer_Bead: Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for the grace to walk in your footsteps. Guide me by your Spirit to keep to the path.

Wisdom_Quote: Intimacy always bears fruit.

The Way to the Father

[The Glory Unveiled]

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. [ John 14:6 NIV ]

Isn’t it ironic that even today, many continue to seek the Father as if He were missing, even though Jesus clearly showed us the way to Him? Some have created religions in an attempt to find Him, yet He has already revealed the path. Imagine this: if you’ve never been to my house and I give you directions, you’d better follow them carefully—otherwise, you’ll never arrive. How much more tragic, then, to ignore the clear directions of the One who knows the way to the Father? We desire to reach the home of the Father, yet we often choose paths offered by those who do not live in the same house as Jesus. How heartbreaking it is to spend a lifetime chasing empty gestures and meaningless directions. To know Jesus is to know the Father. True knowledge of the Father comes only through union with the Son. No one can reach the Father except through Him. We enter into this union when we accept Jesus as Lord, when we believe in His works—His sacrifices—as ours. Only then can we come to the Father. Only then can we find the rest our souls have longed for.

Prayer_Bead: Father, thank you for showing me that the way to you is your Son. As I accept Him as truth and life, help me to come to you in fellowship and living.

Wisdom_Quote: Jesus is the way to the Father, the truth about the Father and the life giving Spirit from the Father.

The Jesus community

[The Glory Unveiled ]

And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. [ Galatians 5:24 NIV ]

A lot of things in this world are driven by passion and desire. This is why almost every ad on the internet has an element intended to arouse passion and desire in viewers. Those who live according to the flesh are driven by passion and desires. On the other hand, those who belong to the Jesus community have  distinguished identities. And this identity is evident in the fact that they live by the Spirit of God and not the dictates of their flesh. This is why the next verse, 25 says if we live by the spirit, let us keep in step with the spirit. In other words, this ought not to be said. If you belong to Christ Jesus, then you have crucified the flesh and if you have crucified the flesh, then you are in step with the Holy Spirit. The one who has been crucified with Jesus no longer walks in accordance with the desires of the flesh, instead they live on the impulse of the Spirit. They are dead to their fleshy desires. Everything that concerns their self-lives have been crucified with Christ on the cross.

Prayer_Bead: Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross in my stead. So that by your crucifixion and death, I was crucified and dead with you.

Wisdom_Quote: The new life began on the cross.

Where shall you go?

[The Glory Unveiled]

Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. [ John 6:68 KJV ]

In life, we are all gravitated towards people and places of value. Nobody wants to be associated with things with no value. This is sometimes because people tend to derive their sense of value and importance from others and things they believe are valuable. The apostle Peter was determined to follow Jesus wherever He went because in His words, Jesus had the word of eternal life. This also meant that the apostle Peter valued eternal life. What do you value most? What is most important to you? In Matthew 6:33, the scripture says we should seek first the kingdom of God and its righteousness. This scripture also suggests that the kingdom of God holds some significance for which we should seek it first. And the good thing about pursuing these valuable things or associating with them is that the rewards outweigh the sacrifice. What you tend to gain from pursuing value is way more than you can ever imagine. The question then is, where shall you go? Who will you follow, what will you seek after? Count the cost first. Think about the end result before you set off in any direction.

Prayer_Bead: Eternal Father, thank you for the grace to know the truth and pursue it. Help me to trust and obey you in all things. Amen.
