God remembers

[The Glory Unveiled]

Then God remembered Rachel; he listened to her and enabled her to conceive. ( Genesis 30:22 )

Jacob loved Rachel so much and wanted to marry her, but his uncle Laban, tricked him into marrying Leah, Rachel’s elder sister. But that didn’t stop Jacob, he had to work for seven more year for Rachel. After his wives came to stay with him, Rachel could not conceive. And even though Jacob loved her more, because she could not conceive, it seem to her that her sister was getting all of their husband’s attention. In order to correct that, she turned to God. Challenges have a way of showing us the gate of priesthood; challenges drag us to the feet of God. But for sometime it seem that God had forgotten about her or couldn’t hear her. Along the way, Rachel, like Sarah tried to help the situation by allowing her servant to sleep with her husband to raise children for her. But this temporary solution didn’t take away her misery and so she continue to look to God in prayer until the scripture above; God remembered Rachel and opened her womb. No prayer is ever wasted because heaven has zero tolerance for waste. The prayers of the past are not wasted. Prayers can be stored up until their appointed time or when enough demand is made on heaven for the release of their answers. God remembered Rachel! Her secret and silent prayers were not in vain. Likewise, your prayers never fell to the ground, they will be remembered and you will conceive the blessings you have been carrying all along.

Prayer_Bead: Merciful Father, Gracious Lord, thank you for not forgetting my silent and secret prayers. Satisfy my heart desires by your loving kindness.

Accept God’s verdict

[The glory Unveiled]

And God came to Balaam [again] at night and said to him, “If the men come to call you, rise and go with them; but only the word which I speak to you—that you shall do.” ( Numbers 22:20 )

In our fast food, fast cars and “fast everything” world, we are always pressured to want things done very fast. Impatience with God has become our totem of “faith”. So that we desperately force our will on God and demand that things be done our way whether the Lord is in it or not. In the verse of scripture above [read the full account], we see Balak play out the 21st century order of most church goers. Balak had a desire to have the Israelites cursed by a prophet so that they could be overpowered by his army. Balak’s first delegation of messengers, were asked by the prophet Balaam to tell Balak that God would not allow him to come to him. But Balak, like most of us will not take a “no” for an answer. The truth is that “no” is also an answer from God. Balak just wanted God to do what he wanted, the way he wanted it. As a result, he wanted God to alter his plans to contain his arrogance which was actually very dangerous. We are in a season where we need to take divine directives and instructions seriously. We must avoid the attitude and spirit of Balak. Whatever God says to us in any situation is the best even if we don’t understand why. So instead of trying to force things to work our way at all cost, let us look through the silence and rejections of God to see the bigger picture of His love for us.

Prayer_Bead: Lord of Lords, Zion’s King, thank you for the advantage of the Cross. Give me the spirit of faith to accept and obey your word and your will.

Wait for the signs

[The Glory Unveiled]

Once these signs are fulfilled, do whatever your hand finds to do, for God is with you. ( 1Samuel 10:7 )

Spiritual instructions are very interesting, such that they pay no respect to protocols, ranks, or people and sometimes even common sense. Whatever they promise, if correctly carried out and to the letter, deliver the promised results. Spiritual instructions do not consider facts or scientific knowledge. When divine instructions are given, even if they are not in line with logic, before we argue them out, we should obey them. When God told Abraham to sacrifice his only son, he didn’t argue with God to find out why. At the wedding in Cana, Mary told the servants to do whatever Jesus told them to do without questioning him. Divine instructions are to be obeyed, not analyzed. If the servants had asked Jesus why he asked them to serve the guests with water instead of wine, they might have broken the protocols of engaging the power of God. In the scripture above, Saul had gone to meet the prophet Samuel and instructions were given to him with accompanying signs. And then after the signs, he could do whatever he wanted; but not before the signs. The intended results will not have materialize if he had disobeyed the order of things. Whatever God tells us to do in this season of divine instructions, we must obey.

Prayer_Bead: Gracious Lord, thank you for teaching me the need and the implications of obeying and disobeying divine instructions. Give me an obedient heart and a listening ear.

Methuselah or Jesus

[The Glory Unveiled]

Altogether, Methuselah lived a total of 969 years, and then he died. ( Genesis 5:27 )

Today, almost everyday, we see obituaries that read “painful exit”, “what a shock”, “Premature”, “Gone too soon” etc all these to mean the deceased had gone to the grave too soon. But in a world like ours we would have to ask ourselves what the standard of a life well lived is. Is it in the many years lived, thus the years in the life or the life in the years; the quality of it? Abraham lived seventy five years of his life not making any significant impact on earth. He only begun truly living twenty five years later when his obedience was complete on mount Moriah. For those many years, he had no legacy nor influence. Luke 3:23 talks about another man, the man Jesus, who started his ministry at age thirty; his ministry spanned for three and a half years. If we contrast this man with Methuselah, one would think that since Methuselah lived longer, he would have made more impact than Jesus. Jesus lived for thirty three and half years but two thousand plus years after we still hear of him whereas Methuselah who had lived 969 years was forgotten almost after his generation. It does not necessarily take so many years to make or leave impact on earth. It takes substance; a message; a mandate to touch lives. Everyday, let’s examine ourselves and find out whether we are impacting any lives or we are just living out empty days.

Prayer_Bead: Ancient of days, Everlasting Father, Eternal King, thank you for the life in my days. May I live out the life of Christ and showcase your glory everyday. In Jesus name.

Quit your search

[The Glory Unveiled]

And he (Saul’s servant) said to him (Saul), “Look now, there is in this city a man of God, and he is an honorable man; all that he says surely comes to pass. So let us go there; perhaps he can show us the way that we should go.” ( 1 Samuel 9:6 )

Saul and his servant had been searching for Saul’s father’s missing donkeys. They had travelled many places, both far and near to search for it but to no avail. At last, Saul told his servant they should return home because their search was yielding no results. But right at that point, almost when Saul had despaired, the servant called to mind another option for finding what they had been looking for. The thing is, up until that time, they had been searching with their own methods and strategies. Truth is, whatever we are frantically looking for is not exactly hidden from everybody. The only reason why we may not find it, could be because we are using the wrong medium and approach to search it. When Saul and his Servant went to meet Samuel, the prophet, not only did he tell them what they were looking for almost before they could say a word about it, but Saul had the opportunity to know his purpose and calling (see 1 Samuel 9:20). Imagine they could have saved all those days they had spent searching for the donkeys if they had met Samuel earlier. There is an easier way of finding whatever we are desperately searching for. The solution is with someone we haven’t yet met. Go and meet that someone.

Prayer_Bead: Omniscient Father, Omnipresent King, the Lord who knows and sees all things, thank you for your plans for me and luring me into it with what I desperately need.

Fear kills faith

[The Glory Unveiled]

For the thing I greatly feared has come upon me, and what I dreaded has happened to me. ( Job 3:25 )

There are many people who would recline in the arms of fear for solace from fear—imagine the irony—but that is what we do most of the time. Whatever we are afraid of lords over us. And it is given the power to manipulate us because fear has the power to create just as faith has creative powers too. Job said, what he greatly feared had come upon him and the reason why this became his reality was because fear attracts distractions and destruction. Another falsehood is trying to use fear as a vehicle to draw to the knowledge of God. Out of fear of something, we sometimes turn to God but the book of Hebrews captures in chapter eleven verse six how we can please God. Fear does not please God but faith. Fear causes us to go ahead of God. It drives us to tryout something before God’s appointed time is due. Fear suggests that we do something “smart” because God has given us a brain full of cells and tissues. But faith instructs that we wait on God’s word in spite of our strength and abilities. So let’s be reminded that the things we greatly fear are almost at our door if we don’t quit fear.

Prayer_Bead: Father Lord, thank you for your word. Thank you for not giving me a spirit of fear but love, sound mind and power. And so I drown my fears in the word of your grace.

Faith; our seed and fruit.

[The Glory Unveiled]

By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised. ( Hebrews 11:11 )

Doubts are removed by action. Faith is birthed by the hearing of truth. True faith gives strength that nothing else can give because sometimes the amount of strength needed to start or stop something outweighs the thing being dealt with. This is why the best move is to fall on faith for strength. Sarah received strength in her old age by faith. If our actions are backed by faith, the odds become irrelevant to our achievement of what we set our minds on. The world is always spinning. So much seem to be happening almost all at once. In these times where so many voices call on us, we need to have a definite subscription channel where in spite of everything we can still navigate back into the path God would have us be. And faith becomes that GPS that will lead us in the way to go. A person is truly damn without faith and hope. This is why the devil attacks literally nothing but your faith and what you hope for. But we are told not to give him a footstool. Resist the devil with your faith.

Prayer_Bead: Author and Finisher of our faith, thank you for showing me the way of victory for the believer. This victory that overcomes the world, even my faith.

The Lord is after your obedience.

[The Glory Unveiled]

And He said, “Do not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me.” ( Genesis 22:12 )

God had told Abraham to sacrifice Isaac, his only son to Him (Genesis 22:2). Of all temptations and trials that Abraham might have had, this would have been more difficult for him because what he had long waited for was about to leave him. What will he say to Sarah, his wife and the people of his house? In spite of all these fears and doubts, Abraham went ahead to obey God without contention. If we would become like the father of Faith, we must obey like him. Do exactly what God instructs, no more no less. If God says kill your son—your job, relationship, education, business, association, food, etc—then lay him (it) on the altar. And if God says don’t kill him (it), take him (it) from the altar. But whatever it is, we must obey God promptly. Don’t continue to do what God had stopped you from doing after he said you should do it. Neither stop what God says you should do after he said you shouldn’t do it. Obedience is God’s measuring tape of our love for Him and our trust in Him. God will only hand out His badge of approval only after obedience is completed. Let us stop asking God for reasons when all He is asking is for us to obey Him.

Prayer_Bead: Great I Am, thank you for your word of hope. Please help me to always promptly obey you. Teach me your ways that I may know and walk with you.

The same spirit of faith

[The Glory Unveiled]

We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak ( 2 Corinthians 4:13 )

The life we—all humans—live in the flesh, is after a certain pattern that is generated by our spirit. This pattern is usually mirrored after whatever our spirit consistently interacts with in our soul. These realities are evident in what we say and believe. The things we talk about and would boldly defend even at gunpoint are the things that make up our beliefs. Even the things we proclaim as truth that are not universally recognized, but believe in its verity to some extent. The scriptures say, “blessed is she that believes, for there shall be a performance of those things that has been told her” (see Luke 1:45). The realities we see plaguing our lives are largely due to our belief systems. The men of old, recorded in the faith-hall of fame (Hebrews 11) are men and women who had the spirit of faith and by that spirit spoke into being what they desired. But it does not end there. We also have the same spirit of faith as those men of old and so, our beliefs should not only remain beliefs but we must speak what we believe. Real faith must lead us to act upon something. So that the evidence of our faith is the action we take as a result. If we believe, our speakings must be consistent with what our hearts believe.

Prayer_Bead: Father in Heaven, thank you for your word of faith and grace. With the same spirit of faith as the saints of old, I speak into being what I believe. [Speak life into every situation around you]

Fear hides your glory

[The Glory Unveiled]

So I was afraid and went out and hid your gold in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you.’ ( Matthew 25:25 )

The words in this verse of scripture sound familiar to us all. It is a New Testament version of those words of Adam after he and his wife had disobeyed God (see Genesis 3:10). A core characteristic of fear is that it hides ones glory. Some good things which were supposed to head for our direction were diverted to different addresses because we were afraid and doubtful. But the real source of most fears is ignorance or disobedience to what we know how to do. In the scripture above, three servants were given gold (resources) with the intention to generate more dividends and accrue more profits. The first two servants on their day of accountability gave accounts and they did well according to their strength. But the third who was only given one resource to manage, instead of investing it into something profitable went to hide it in the ground. In his words, he hid the gold (resource) because he was afraid. And because of his fear, he was rejected by his master. Nothing was given him in his honour, even the one gold he had was taken from him. Sounds familiar again right? Adam and Eve had lost the garden atmosphere because they couldn’t keep it in order; because they hid away in fear of their disobedience. We have not been given the spirit of fear. We have the Spirit of power and sound mind from God. On the day of accountability, may we not be found hiding.

Prayer_Bead: Lord Jesus, thank you for committing your gifts and grace to me. I pray that I may be found a faithful steward on the day of accountability. Holy Spirit, the Spirit of power, please erase fear from my life.
