[The Glory Unveiled]
We can only give what we possess. When the clouds are full of water, they pour out rain. In the same way, the output of a life is always determined by its input. No one can give what they do not have. You cannot give a million dollars if a million dollars is not already in your possession. To give something—consistently and meaningfully—means you have it in abundance. That is why Scripture says, “Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.” Whatever flows from our lips is simply the overflow of what our hearts are carrying. If the heart is full of fear, fear comes out. If it is full of bitterness, bitterness spills over. But if it is filled with the Word of God, then truth and life will flow. We are therefore instructed to let the Word of Christ dwell in us richly, so that we may teach and admonish others. You cannot teach what you do not know. You cannot impart what you have not first received. This is why we must be filled—deeply, richly, continually—with the Word of God, allowing the Holy Spirit to train, correct, and shape us from within. When the Word dwells richly in us, we become able to teach others with wisdom. We can minister through psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. We can release what we carry through whatever means God gives—because we are full. So allow the Word of God to saturate your heart. Do not stifle the Spirit who teaches you. Be teachable, be open, be filled—so that from the abundance within you, life can flow to others.
