Intimacy with Jesus

[The Glory Unveiled]

Whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked. [ 1 John 2:6 NIV ]

Every form of intimacy produces some kind of fruit. If we claim to have intimacy with God then some fruit must show for it. Our intimacy with God is not just by saying, “I am intimate with God,” but by bearing fruit, which comes by walking in the footsteps of Jesus. We cannot look like Jesus unless we walk intimately with Him, which cannot happen unless we walk in His footsteps. This means doing exactly what He did and living exactly as He lived. In so doing, we naturally begin to look like Him. So instead of going about telling people what a great Christian or believer we are, let us walk in the footsteps of Jesus and our lives will inadvertently announce it. *The world will change only when they see Jesus not when we say there is a Jesus*. They probably already know there is a Jesus, they now want to see Him, like Thomas, to believe Him. What makes it easier for us to walk in Jesus’ footsteps is the Holy Spirit’s indwelling presence in us. He lives in us, whispering the will of God to us.

Prayer_Bead: Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for the grace to walk in your footsteps. Guide me by your Spirit to keep to the path.
