[TheGlory Unveiled]
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. ( Matthew 6:21 )
The verse of scripture above is an excerpt from the Lord Jesus’ sermon on the mount. In this verse, He was drawing the attention of his audience to the fact that, ultimately, our hearts are drawn to where our values and things of great worth (rare and precious items) are. Because of the value we attach to them, our hearts remain with such things, no matter where they are, to “safeguard” them. In the preceding texts, Jesus teaches that there are two destinations for all hearts. Either our hearts are held up in earthly things or heavenly things. He further explains that, what sponsors these destinations is not necessarily the fact that these things are secure in one place or the other but that they gather where our desires abide. So that the carnally minded man will store up his/her treasure in earthly things while the spiritual man stores in heaven where they cannot be destroyed nor broken into. We can safely say that, ones heart is not far from what they esteem and value, whether it’s a good thing or not. To avoid the ultimate destruction, we should treasure the things of God, intentionally. Love the Lord and His works, and then your storehouse and heart will be at the same heavenly destination.
