More than bread

[The Glory Unveiled]

Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone.’” ( Luke 4:4 )

The word of God is light and life. It is living water and manna to the soul. Without food or water, the flesh dissipates and growth becomes impossible. The word of God says that God’s word is light and lamp to us, without which we walk in darkness. Unless you have ever walked in darkness, you may not appreciate light. But whatever it takes, every living thing understands the need for food or whatever food means to them. So that there are no living things that continue to grow without feeding on something. In the above scripture, Jesus said, man shall not live on bread alone [but every word that proceeds from the mouth of God]. This is because we are spirit beings and spirit is not sustained by flesh nor does flesh lean on the spirit to grow. Without the word of God, the spirit of man cannot grow; the spirit of man starves without the word of God. And if we cannot starve our flesh, then we surely cannot starve our spirits. Let us consciously feed our spirits with the word of God. Let us drag our spirit to the Lord’s table. Let us pray and fast if we must, to shed off every weight so that we can submit our spirit to the tutelage of the Holy Spirit.

Prayer_Bead: Spirit to spirit, Heart to heart, Lover of my soul, thank you for the bread of life and feeding my spirit with your word. Guide me into constructive growth._

Redeemed from slavery.

[The Glory Unveiled]

Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ. ( Galatians 4:7 )

Identity is very important in the realization of purpose. We were enslaved by sin through disobedience. And as we already know, slavery gives no room for inheritance, rights or privileges. Slaves do not have rights to anything. Whatever they have the opportunity to experience can only be considered an act of mercy and kindness. Something, happened when Jesus hanged on the cross as a payment for our debt. He changed our status. From that moment forward, we were translated from the status of slaves to sons (males and females). And the man who adopted us into His family through Christ is God. So if we are sons, then we are heirs of God by that purchase power of the blood of Jesus. You are not a mere man or woman. You share in the inheritance of Jesus. We are joint heirs with Him. John 1:14, explains that our lineage is heavenly. We became born again not of the will of man but God. Therefore, this world and its systems cannot hold us down. We are up and above.

Prayer_Bead: Abba Father, my source and my Lord, thank you for redeeming me from the curse of the law and translating me into the kingdom of your marvelous Light. I share in the inheritance of Jesus. I am born of God. His blood runs through my veins. Glory!

God knows what to do.

[The Glory Unveiled]

He asked this only to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do. ( John 6:6 )

In the verse five of our anchor chapter, Jesus asks Philip what they were going to feed a multitude of people with? But here in the verse six, we read that the question in verse five was a test because Jesus already knew what to do. You see, usually, before a “challenge” or a test comes our way, God knew how the end would be and what He would do with that test and through it. Almost everything that has to do with God is intended to reveal His glory and power. God knows what to do about your situation even before it came. Do you believe that? If you do, you will need not be worried or intimidated by what goes on around you and the words of people or the voice of the systems of this world. Today, as we go out, let us be reminded that God knows whatever we will encounter. Our trust must rest in God’s omniscience and power. Don’t worry when God can handle your situations.

Prayer_Bead: Jehovah Jireh, the Omnipotent Father, thank you for your great love for me and the plans through which you express this love.

Wait, for the Lord

[The Glory Unveiled]

But they soon forgot what he had done
and did not wait for his plan to unfold. ( Psalms 106:13 )

The scripture speaks about the Israelites and what happened during their journey to the land of promise. The promise to them was that they would be taken from the land of slavery into a land flowing with milk and honey. And to prove that the word of prophecy was going to manifest, many signs and wonders were performed in the very eyes of the people to reassure them. Initially, they were amazed and encouraged by these miracles and so their trust in God waxed strong. But after some time, they forgot what the Lord had done for them when they faced challenges. What fear and impatience does is that, it erases the initial intentions of God for a people. When Sarah, became impatient, Ishmael was born, when Esau refused to endure, he lost his destiny. For the plans of God to unfold by their own accord, we need to wait on the Lord. Waiting on the Lord in the secret place is the secret to living a life that cannot be defined by world’s standards and the world’s systems.

Prayer_Bead: Faithful father, Gracious Lord, thank you for your commitment to your word for me. Give me the grace to wait upon your plan to unfold in my life.

Holy Spirit, our partner.

[The Glory Unveiled]

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. ( Romans 8:26 )

Many are the items on our prayers lists. Sometimes there are so many items that we are unable to pray them all. The reason is because of our weaknesses. The flesh burdens us with unnecessary cares that drag us into delay over time. Most of the things we think we need are only the wants of the flesh, the lust of the eyes or the pride of life being voiced through the medium of prayer. So that the fact that we say a lot of things in the name of Jesus does not make them true prayers nor prayers at all according to the charter of heaven. The Bible says that no man knows the spirit of another man except the spirit of that man and no man knows the Spirit of God, except the Spirit of God. In our bid to fellowship and commune with the Spirit of God, we are faced with the challenge of interacting with God through our spirit; interacting with God with the right words and at the right frequency because we do not know the Spirit of God without the assistance of the Holy Spirit. But as many who have the mind of Christ, by accepting His Lordship, have the Holy Spirit interceding for them. Let us align to the Holy Spirit in the place of prayer so that He will pray through us what we ought to pray.

Prayer_Bead: Father in the name of Jesus, thank you for giving me of your Spirit and the opportunity through the blood of Jesus to fellowship with you even with my spirit. Help me to align to you Holy Spirit.

Decree what you desire

[The Glory Unveiled]

You shall also decide and decree a thing, and it shall be established for you; and the light [of God’s favor] shall shine upon your ways. ( Job 22:28 )

When we look carefully at this verse of scripture, we cannot but notice the tone of love. We would also perceive the sincerity of a God who desires for His children to be blessed and independently dependent on Him. So that a love relationship will be established. Whatever God decrees is established no matter what it is. God wills all power and authority, both in heaven and under heaven. Nothing happens or will happen outside of His watch. As such God is permitted by Himself and for His glory to do whatever He pleases. But above all, God does any and everything in love because He is love. God in this verse of scripture enjoins us to also do as He does, decide a thing and decree it into establishment. The objective is to have the light of God’s favour and love shine upon our ways and then the world can see the glory of God in our lives. Beloved, God has given us the privilege to decree what we want to see manifest in our lives and world. Decree a thing today, enforce the truth of God’s word by decree.

Prayer_Bead: Omnipotent Father, thank you for the privilege to decree what I decide. Today, I decree that your will be done on earth and in my life. I decree supplies for me and my household today.

Super ordinary life

[ The Glory Unveiled ]

The sun will no more be your light by day,
nor will the brightness of the moon shine on you, for the LORD will be your everlasting light,
and your God will be your glory.( Isaiah 60:19 )

The Believer is called to extraordinary life. Everything about and around the Believer is supposed to scream “out of ordinary “. Ordinarily, the sun is the giver of light by day and the moon supplies light at night. So that ordinarily, whenever these entities refuse to give light at their designated times, the ordinary man or woman experiences darkness. But here, in this verse of scripture, we see an entirely different situation, one that is not in line with the normal way of things. God says in effect, what used to be our norm will cease to be the norm hence forth. God is using us to break the status quo and to usher in a new order; the order of super ordinary manifestations. Instead of the world or its systems giving us light almost to our detriment, God is now our everlasting light and glory. God does not disappoint, He does not change like the weather. But all these can only be a reality if or when God becomes our Lord and partner. If you have not permitted Him to be Lord over you, please do that today.

Prayer_Bead: Father in heaven, thank you for reconciling me unto yourself through Christ Jesus. I accept the Lordship of Jesus over my life. Forgive me my transgressions and sins. Be my Lord and Saviour, and shine your light in my heart, in Jesus name.

Know your spiritual tribe

[The Glory Unveiled]

No inheritance may pass from one tribe to another, for each Israelite tribe is to keep the land it inherits.” ( Numbers 36:9 )

Spiritual heritage is very important especially in our day and age. Finding and knowing one’s spiritual ancestry is crucial to the core mandate of our call. The instructions given by God, through Moses to Joshua to be carried out was that, the inheritance (land) should be shared according to tribes and among tribes. There was no other way by which anyone in Israel could have a land allotted to them. Once you belong to a particular ancestry, you can be sure of your share of an inheritance. The problem arises when you don’t know your tribe or you have none, as a result of not knowing your source or not belonging to that lineage. But whatever the case may be, without a connection to a tribe, there is no inheritance and hence there is no legacy to be left. Likewise, our spiritual tribes determine what ripple effects we will leave on the earth and how effective that impact could be. The scripture above says, no inheritance should pass from one tribe to another, but each should keep what they have. Spiritually too, no one can partake in the inheritance of another tribe no matter how hard they try. The best they could do is to pretend or fake the inheritance of that tribe. Unfortunately many of us think we can just stand alone, without spiritual tribes and covering. This is probably the reason for many of the errors and ineffectiveness we see in ministry all around. Are you a prophet, quit acting like a teacher. Are you an evangelist, quit acting like a prophet. Remain in your tribe and you will be relevant.

Prayer_Bead: God of the universe and all its resulting effects, thank you for bringing me up in a particular tribe. Guide me to recognize my tribe and to remain committed to that lineage. Make me a partake of the inheritance of my tribe.

Behavioral red flags

Before a downfall the heart is haughty,
but humility comes before honor. ( Proverbs 18:12 )

If ever anyone of us will be cautioned just right before we step into trouble there would have been half the problems in the world today. Fortunately for the Believer, the Lord, because of His love for us has not left us in the dark concerning these matters. Instead through his word, God exposes the red flags on our way to greatness and recognition. So that when we pay heed, we will be decorated with honour after the order of God’s ordination and institution. Our anchor scripture says the heart always becomes haughty before any downfall. This means that nobody enters or stumbles into a downfall, a difficult situation without the heart going ahead of them into haughtiness. And on the other hand, humility always precedes honour and glory. In that same vein, the life of a person can be predicted to end in honour if they walk in constant humility. The ball is therefore in our court; the onus lies with us. What becomes of us depends on what we make of this verse of scripture, should we choose the path of humility or the path of haughtiness.

Prayer_Bead: Merciful and everlasting King, prince of peace, thank you for the power of your word. Give me a discerning heart and an understanding mind. And teach me to walk in humility and love.

Is anything too hard for God?

[ The Glory Unveiled ]

“I am the LORD, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me? ( Jeremiah 32:27 )

In the dark world, there are specialized spirits, demons and gods. There are gods who specialize in specific fields and so whenever they are confronted with situations outside their main line of operations, they become redundant. People who have been exposed to the activities of such gods find it difficult to accept the testimony of God expressed through Jesus. To many of these people, God is specialized in only specific areas and so when confronted with challenges in other areas, they want to handle it themselves. But before God would ask whether anything is too hard for him, he defines Himself; to distinct Himself from the rest of the gods. God Almighty is God over all humanity. But then the response to the question, “Is there anything too hard for me” determines what outcome we experience. Whatever we think is too hard for God to do, we cannot trust God to do it. This is why our response to the question is quite integral to our overall outlook on life.

Prayer_Bead: Father, I thank you for who you are and who you are to me. Thank you for what you will do and what you have done already because there is nothing too hard for you.
