The Holy Spirit, our secret

[The Glory Unveiled]

He told them, “The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you. But to those on the outside everything is said in parables ( Mark 4:11 )

It is very possible to have been given something and yet not show any bit of it in expression. We have been called into the Kingdom of God. And even after we lost it, we were given the opportunity through the Cross to find our way back to it. As a result we have been given the secret access into the kingdom; we have been given access into the mysteries of the word by the Spirit of God. The Spirit of God is the secret (key) into the Kingdom. The scripture says, no man knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of that man and no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. And if Christ is the fullness of the Godhead, the embodiment of the Kingdom, then the Governor, who is the Holy Spirit is the key (secret) into that kingdom. The Holy Spirit has been given to us. It is by Him we can call the father our “Abba” Father. Those outside the kingdom only have parables, psychology and the ideologies of man. But we have the secret to the Kingdom. Glory!!.

Prayer_Bead: Abba Father, thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Thank you for giving us access into the Kingdom by the governor.

The word works

[The Glory Unveiled]

That is why I did not even consider myself worthy to come to you. But say the word, and my servant will be healed.( Luke 7:7 )

In the scripture above, the servant of a Roman centurion was sick and about to die. This centurion was a very influential person in his society and so he sent some of the Jewish elders to talk to Jesus about his servant. Now, the elders convinced Jesus to go to the home of the centurion but on their way, the centurion met with them and told Jesus that He didn’t have to come to his house. Instead, He should speak the word, and his servant will be healed. This centurion believed something that we need even more in our time than ever. He believed that the word of Jesus works. And because the word was efficacious, Jesus didn’t have to be present in body to effect changes. His word was enough to do what He would do. The default mode of the word of God is to produce results. So our responsibility is to trust the word. The word works, let us give opportunity to the word by faith and it will yield the desired results.

Prayer_Bead: Thank you gracious Father for the efficacy of your word and the opportunities it makes available. I believe in your word.

The child became a son

[The Glory Unveiled]

For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. ( Isaiah 9:6 )

The secrets of God are the plain things of the Holy Spirit reserved for the discerning and those to whom God has bestowed understanding. God intricately hides His glory in plain sight. Christ Jesus is the embodiment of this agenda of God perceptible by faith. Many centuries before Moses penned the book of Genesis, God promised (prophesied) a child as the seed of the woman (see Genesis 3:15). This seed, after thousands of years became the son that is our Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, our Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace and the One on whose shoulders the government rests. The seed [child] was a prophecy, fulfilled as the son. God’s word does not fall to the ground. His words will always fulfill all that it is sent to accomplish. This is why we can trust the word of God above all other conversations of man. God is faithful. God is committed to His word. The child was born, and the son was given. The prophecy was pronounced (born), and the fulfillment (son) was given. Whatever God said, God will give the fulfillment to His glory. Glory!!!.

Prayer_Bead: Omniscient King, Wonderful Counselor, King of Kings, thank you for the fulfillment of your word. Thank you for giving us your Son.

Our love source

[The Glory Unveiled]

We love because he first loved us. ( 1 John 4:19 )

We are in the season of love. And it is only appropriate we turn our lens to the topic of love. Love has lately been misunderstood or abused. The scripture says we love because He first loved us. This means that without He (Christ), we do not know what love is and cannot love as a result. Jesus is the portrait of love for us. Today, in our pursuit of love and our search for it, we need to have the portrait in front of us, Christ. So that love will flow from that trajectory to us. We cannot love in isolation from Christ neither can we be loved without Christ. We can only love God because He first loved us and we can love our neighbors because God first shared His love abroad in our hearts. Let brotherly love continue.

Prayer_Bead: Thank you Lord Jesus for your love for me. Help me to express your love to the world.

Victory by faith

[The Glory Unveiled]

For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. ( 1 John 5:4 )

The world has systems and “mountains” and many people have sold their souls to the devil to operate these systems and mountains. They exchange a permanent victory for a temporary glory. But there is another avenue to win over the world. Except that this also comes with a restriction. This avenue is limited to those who have accepted Christ as Lord over their lives. Hence, the Believer’s victory over the world is in Christ. Outside of Christ, the Believer cannot overcome the world. And this victory is tied to our faith in Christ. So that unless we are born of God, we cannot exercise that faith over the world. Everything in God is accessible through faith. Without faith, we cannot get over the wall of divide that separates the ordinary life from the supernatural life. One of which is the victorious life.

Prayer_Bead: Author and Finisher of my faith, thank you for the victory of the cross. I live in that victory for me by faith in you.

Slaves of God

[The Glory Unveiled]

Live as free people, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as God’s slaves. ( 1 Peter 2:16 )

God so love humanity, that He sent His only begotten son to pay the penalty for our wrong. This act gives us the opportunity to return to the family of God (see John 1:12). Though we are given the privilege of sonship when we believe in Christ and as result we are free, God does not force us to comply with His ways and plans for us. He gives us the freedom to choose what to do with the freedom we have, whether good or bad. But if we love God as much as we profess, we need to become slaves of God. And this not by coercion but by our free will. We hear comments like “In Christ, I am free to do whatever I want to do”. That is true, the apostle Paul said he is free to do all things but not all things are beneficial to him. And so he will not be brought under the power of any. He chose to become the bond servant of Christ as a pledge of allegiance to God. Let us live as slaves of God so that we can express the life of God.

Prayer_Bead: Thank you Jesus for the opportunity to live for you freely. Empower me to succeed in this life I have subscribed to.

Faith in the hearing

[The Glory Unveiled]

But many who heard the message believed; so the number of men who believed grew to about five thousand. ( Acts 4:4 )

There had never been a time when people believed anything without hearing, touching, seeing or feeling something. Beliefs have always been founded on something perceptible to the heart. Jesus told some fishermen that He will make them fishers of men. True to that word, they were sent out to the fields of souls. In the book of Acts, the disciples had so many more people joining the family of God. But before these people could ever join this family, they had to hear something. So that it was not everybody who got saved but those from the sample of people who heard the message. Until that gospel of the kingdom was preached to them, faith couldn’t have come alive in them to lead them to Christ. It is by grace we have been saved, through faith. The medium of faith is necessary for anyone to reach God. For anyone who comes to God must believe that He is and a rewarder of they who diligently seek Him. Keep hearing the word, keep walking in the light of His word.

Prayer_Bead: Omniscient King, Omnipotent Father, thank you for the word of faith that brought me salvation. Keep me in the bosom of your love in Christ Jesus.

Be sober and alert

[The Glory Unveiled]

The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray. ( 1 Peter 4:7 )

It seems that the apostle Peter in the verse of scripture above is drawing our attention to that last moment of the Lord when He called three of his inner cycle disciples to watch with Him. In the strength of their flesh, to the detriment of their spirits, they slept at the place of prayer. In moments afterwards they had wished they prayed. (see Matthew 26:38-40). As one who had a first hand experience of these things, the apostle is able to give advice on what is necessary in these last days. In the last days, it is difficult to pray as the experience of the disciples revealed to us from the gospels. As such there is the need to follow a strategy that can help us to pray. The apostle says we should be alert and sober minded. In their experience, they were not alert though they had been cautioned by Jesus to “watch”. We need a discerning heart to be on the watch for shifts in the atmosphere of the spirit. A sober mind understands shifts and spiritual sound codes and this helps to pray as we ought. Hearing helps the heart to be sober and our senses to be alert. May the assurance of God’s word calm us as we meditate on the word and hear from God.

Prayer_Bead: Thank you father for the grace to be sober minded and alert. Guide me to watch and pray even more earnestly in these days.

The standards of God

[The Glory Unveiled]

A person may think their own ways are right,
but the LORD weighs the heart. ( Proverbs 21:2 )

The truth, that God is not a man is evident as it is clearly displayed in His dealings with men. As such man’s standard and unit of measurement is different from God’s. The standards of man leans on what is obvious to the senses. So that once the senses cannot capture something as factual even though it may be, the standards of man regards that unit as irrelevant. On the other hand, God uses a standard of measurement that sees what the eyes and senses cannot reveal. The standard of God sees past the actions of men into the motive that sponsors such actions. So that to God, even though someone might have done a good thing, if the heart is not right at the time of executing that good thing, the act is also null and void. This also means that, our motives; the state of our hearts are more important to God than the noise of our voices and the acts of our hands. We cannot fraud God because the intents of our hearts cannot be hidden from God. He sees the hidden things of darkness and the motives of the heart. If we know and believe this truth, then it behoves us to diligently keep our hearts.

Prayer_Bead: Omnipotent Father, Omniscient king, thank you for your word. Kindly search my heart and expose any corrupt ways and desires in me. And where I am found wanting, supply grace.

Add knowledge to desire

[The Glory Unveiled]

Desire without knowledge is not good—how much more will hasty feet miss the way! ( Proverbs 19:2 )

Zeal [desire] is very good, but what is not good is having zeal or desire without adequate [corresponding] knowledge. The problem with desire without knowledge is that it draws men from the path of their assignment and ordination. Desire without knowledge keeps us busy doing what the curriculum of our existence does not capture; in this case such activities are not even qualified to fall within the hidden or extra curricular sessions. What zeal without knowledge drives us to do is just exhaustion of spirit and soul. We get ourselves busy doing almost everything at the same time. We lack a sense of direction and purpose. We are better defined by the statement, “jack of all trades, master of none”. Desire without knowledge typically does what the second part of our scripture reference says; the feet of a man with desire without knowledge is hasty. And the resulting effect is that such people miss the way. They miss their true kingdom north that should lead them to relevance and stature. In addition to zeal and desire, may we add knowledge so that there will be a balance and control on our desires.

Prayer_Bead: Father of all spirits, thank you for the desire you have placed in me for your work, guide me through knowledge not to miss my path.
