[The Glory Unveiled]
Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full. [ John 16:24 NKJV ]
Imagine someone who has both the willingness and the ability to help you approaching you with this question: “Why haven’t you asked me for anything?” Such a scenario is rare in ordinary human relationships. Usually, the one in need must take the initiative, while the one able to help waits to be asked. Yet this is precisely the posture of the Lord Jesus Christ toward His people. He is not reluctant to hear our requests; He invites them. He expects them. The disciples had walked with Jesus for years. One would naturally assume that they had brought every need before Him. Yet His words reveal otherwise: “Until now you have asked nothing in My name.” This exposes a remarkable truth. It is possible to know Christ, walk with Him, and still ask far less than He desires us to ask. We often carry burdens, anxieties, and unmet needs that He fully intends us to bring before Him. The secret is not merely asking, but asking in the name of Jesus. To pray in His name is to approach the Father on the merit of the Son—to come as those represented by Christ Himself. The Father will never reject the Son, and therefore every prayer that is truly offered in His name stands upon the Son’s perfect acceptance before the Father. This is the confidence that guarantees our access and gives assurance that God hears us. Perhaps, like the disciples, you have asked far less than heaven has invited you to ask. You have asked nothing compared with what Christ has made available. Therefore, ask. Bring before Him everything that robs you of peace and joy. Ask boldly, ask confidently, and ask in the name of Jesus, knowing that your confidence rests not in your worthiness but in His.
