Enlarge your capacity

[The Glory Unveiled]

Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few. [ 2 Kings 4:3 KJV ]

The wife of a deceased prophet approached Elisha, seeking help to settle her debts. Elisha inquired about what she possessed, emphasizing the need for a starting point for her breakthrough. In 2 Kings 4:2, Elisha asked, “What shall I do for thee? tell me, what hast thou in the house?” She responded, “Thine handmaid hath not anything in the house, save a pot of oil.” Although Elisha’s question may seem harsh, it aligns with the principle that God multiplies what is available. Just as five loaves and two fishes resulted in five thousand loaves and fishes, the widow needed to present something for multiplication. Elisha advised her to borrow numerous vessels, as her results would reflect her capacity. Borrowing many empty vessels symbolized enlarging her capacity to contain the abundance that would be provided. God calls upon us to expand our capacity to receive His blessings. Fear often hinders individuals from realizing their full potential, leading them to embrace mediocrity. Fear of judgment, fear of the unknown, and fear of failure limit growth. The widow’s courage to overcome fear and borrow vessels allowed her to offset her debts. In our lives, letting go of fear and embracing faith is essential. Taking that daunting step of faith reveals possibilities we might otherwise miss. Just as the widow’s faith led to her breakthrough, overcoming fear can open doors to unforeseen opportunities.

Prayer_Bead: Father, thank you for the opportunity to multiply the little things I have. As I act in faith, I receive the multiplication of my faith.

Wisdom_Quote: Your breakthrough is behind your ocean of fear.

Configure your affection.

[Glory Unveiled]

Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. [ Colossians 3:2 KJV ]

An electronic device holds numerous possibilities, yet these potentials remain concealed within a set of instructions stored in the device’s settings. Two devices from the same manufacturer, boasting identical features, can yield disparate outcomes due to variations in their settings and one’s knowledge or mastery of those settings. Similarly, there are abundant possibilities above, where Christ is seated, but these potentials are obscured by the settings of our affections. Without setting our affections on things above, we cannot experience the corresponding realities. Our lives manifest the realities of the locations to which our affections are set. To establish our affections, we must deliberately focus our minds on something until our subconscious perceives it as reality. If our minds are fixated on earthly matters, our lives will manifest earthly results. It is evident from the aforementioned points that we bear the responsibility of setting our minds on either heavenly or earthly things. Choosing not to set our affections on anything is a decision in itself, as our affections naturally assume a default posture—the fallen man’s inclination towards things on this earth. Your default affection is what you respond to consciously and unconsciously, defining you more than any external labels. What you respond to is a reflection of what your affection is pinned to. Therefore, set your affection right, and your life will mirror it.

Prayer_Bead: Heavenly Father, thank you for the opportunity to set my affection on things above where Christ is seated. My life reflects Jesus to my world.

Wisdom_Quote: The direction of your life is a mirror reflection of your pinned affection.

The sacrifice of obedience

[The Glory Unveiled]

But Samuel replied:
“Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the LORD? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams. [ 1 Samuel 15:22 NIV ]

Saul’s attitude when instructed by God to destroy the Amalekites, including their king, and his response afterward is typical of many believers. Often, we attempt to outsmart God. When we disobey God and engage in actions He instructs us against, our default attitude should be remorse and repentance. However, we often try to cleverly evade accountability. Adam blamed God for giving him a woman who misled him, Cain denied responsibility for his brother’s welfare after killing him, and David resorted to killing Uriah to conceal his adultery. Instead of seeking mercy with humility, we frequently attempt to find excuses. Saul disobeyed God, doing what he deemed right to please people. When held accountable by God, he refused to admit his wrongdoing. He even sacrificed to God while not in good terms with Him. God values obedience over showy sacrifices; it’s better to obey than to offer elaborate sacrifices. The spirit of humility, however, facilitates faster forgiveness and deliverance than many alternative approaches. So instead of falling on other alternative approaches, let us humble ourselves, ask for forgiveness and amend our ways. So that Saul’s fate will not befall us. Let’s change our ways through humility and obedient submission to God, remembering that “To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.”

Prayer_Bead: Omnipotent, Omniscient Father, thank you for the grace to obey you at all cost. Help me to seek to please you alone in all things.

Wisdom_Quote: Obedience is better than sacrifices.

What is your profit?

[The Glory Unveiled]

For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? [ Matthew 16:26 KJV ]

The entire world, not just a portion is compared to the worth of the soul and the world falls short. The question arises: what else could be given in exchange for a man’s soul? The rhetorical answer is nothing. Nevertheless, many people trade their souls for trivial things. Some settle for less than a piece of the world in exchange for their souls. In a barter trade system, prices aren’t fixed, presenting both opportunities or risks based on one’s marketing skills. A piece of cloth might be bartered for a cow in one market and exchanged for a pair of scissors in another, influenced by needs and the attached value. As believers, understanding the value placed on us through the blood of the eternal Son prevents selling ourselves too cheap, even for two worlds. The Bible is unequivocal about the worth of our souls, surpassing anything this realm offers. Our value shouldn’t diminish. God emphasizes our worth, stating that we’re worth more than many sparrows (Matthew 10:31). It suggests God is intentional about our value, knowing our true worth and discouraging wasting what is precious on mundanity. Like Esau selling his birthright for a bowl of soup, devaluing himself in the eyes of his brother and God, exchanging your soul for anything in this world, even the world itself, leads to a perpetual loss. Your soul has sentimental value to God, beyond purchase—so, don’t attempt to sell it.

Prayer_Bead: Lover and Lord, thank you for the value you placed on my soul. It is worth the blood of your Son. Thank you.

Wisdom_Quote: The human soul has no equal value in this world.

The help of God

[The Glory Unveiled]

“If God’s grace doesn’t help the builders, they will labor in vain to build a house. If God’s mercy doesn’t protect the city, all the sentries will circle it in vain.” [ Psalms‬ ‭127‬:‭1 TPT‬‬ ]

It is very easy to attribute the glory of God to things we had no hand in, a mistake arising from being blind to God’s working grace behind the scenes. Nothing in the visible realm is self-sustained; everything in this world relies on something from the invisible realm—the realm of God—to run smoothly. Despite this, we often deceive ourselves into thinking we are the reason for what happens to us. Builders may pride themselves in skills, but their craftsmanship’s efficacy lies not in their skills alone; it is the element of grace that gives purpose to skills, ensuring labour is not in vain. Without grace, every labour is futile—the watchman watches in vain, the farmer plows in vain, even the preacher preaches in vain. God’s grace, like icing on the cake of man’s effort, gives it true beauty and identity. In light of this, it is better to involve God from the project’s beginning to avoid fruitless hassle and empty labour. You can choose to labour in vain or work with God’s grace backing you, but when you do, refrain from taking the glory for yourself. Taking God’s glory is the shortest path to destruction; thus, seek the grace of God before initiating any project, regardless of your skill or experience and then, you can be sure of unquestionable success.

Prayer_Bead: Gracious Father, thank you for your helping grace. Thank you for helping me in every endeavor. Glory to your name.

Wisdom_Quote: Except God is involved, every labour is in vain.

Clouds of temptation

[The Glory Unveiled]

“Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” [ Matthew 26:41 NIV ]

Clouds of temptation gather in specific places for particular assignments. When you notice the temptation cloud forming in the distance, it’s time to watch and pray. Watching and praying serve as the best security measures to anticipate challenges, eliminating potential threats. Temptations do not discriminate based on status, class, or anointing; all individuals face temptation in one way or another. Those who appear untouched by temptations are often those who consistently overcome. For such individuals, sin cannot imprint its stain through temptations. The believer’s primary spiritual defense is sensitivity to the Spirit, providing an early warning system against dangers. Sensitivity to the Spirit equips and prepares one to face any challenges with courage. It also aids in discerning God’s will and mind, ensuring prayers are aligned. A spiritually sensitive person knows when to pray and watch, staying vigilant instead of sleeping when prayer is essential. In case of injuries, our spiritual first aid comes through the prayers of others when we are weak. The flesh’s verdict is evident: the flesh is weak. While the spirit is willing, executing its will always requires the energy of the flesh. Unfortunately, the flesh is the entry point for temptations, emphasizing the importance of avoiding temptation clouds through constant vigilance and prayer.

Prayer_Bead: Father, thank you for teaching me to watch and pray. Help me to stay away from temptation’s breeze.

Wisdom_Quote: It is time to watch and pray when you see the finger of temptation in the clouds.

Where did you build

[The Glory Unveiled ]

But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. [ Matthew 7:26 NIV ]

The believer is a practitioner of Jesus. The Christian life is to be practiced. Just as lawyers study and practice law, the believer studies Jesus under the tutelage of the Holy Spirit and practices Him. Reading from verse 24 of our anchor chapter, it seems that two types of houses were described, one built on the rock and the other on the sand. However, there is no mention of the types, suggesting they may look similar. There is no mention of materials or designs, implying the houses might be the same but in different locations. The rains, streams, and winds came against both houses, but the outcome depended on their locations. In matters of destinies, legacies, and any form of advancement, location matters a lot. For example, Abraham would not have become the father of many nations if he had not been at the right location. Every individual faces challenges, and while all believers hear the word of God, scripture says the wise practice what they hear. Practicing the word of God establishes us in Christ, like a house built on the rock. Hearing and not practicing is like building on sand without a firm foundation. And when the smallest wind of destruction comes, it carries the non-practitioner along. Beloved, let us strive to practice the word of God at all costs, building our faith and spiritual lives on the firm Rock, who is Jesus.

Prayer_Bead: Dear Lord, thank you for being the Rock on which I am being built. Help me to always practice the word of God

Wisdom_Quote: Location is a destiny defining factor.

Navigating life’s journey through obedience

[The Glory Unveiled]

And the LORD appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of: [ Genesis 26:2 KJV ]

Abraham and Isaac have humility and obedience in common. Abraham moved in obedience to God’s word from his father’s house to the land God showed him. In our anchor chapter, a severe famine struck the land where Isaac resided, leading him to consider going to Egypt for better prospects. However, God instructed him to stay, emphasizing the importance of listening to divine guidance to avoid life’s tragedies. Unfortunately, many individuals neglect seeking God’s opinion, relying solely on their perceived logical thinking. Even among those who seek God’s guidance, disobedience often occurs, possibly due to the seemingly illogical nature of divine instructions. Despite this, God’s guidance consistently works for our well-being. Understanding what to do and when is the key to a victorious life. Genesis 26:12 illustrates Isaac’s obedience, as he sowed in a seemingly unproductive land, reaping a hundredfold blessing in the same year. This success stemmed from being precisely where God intended him to be. Following God’s instructions, even when they appear perplexing, leads to unparalleled results. Walking in the light of divine guidance is crucial for receiving God’s promises, as their fulfillment depends on our obedience to His instructions. Discover what God is communicating to you in the present moment and act on I t.

Prayer_Bead: Kind and gracious Lord, thank you for your guidance and your love. Help me to walk in the light of your leading.

Wisdom_Quote: Walk in the voice of God’s guidance.

Temptation’s Red Zones.

[The Glory Unveiled]

And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. [ Genesis 2:16-17 KJV ]

Nothing entices a person into the land of no return like gullibility. Temptations will inevitably arise, but being gullible propels us toward that irreversible place. Lucifer, driven by gullibility, coveted what was not rightfully his and found himself in the land of no return. Similarly, Adam and Eve had the freedom to partake of any tree, except one. Despite the abundance of alternatives, they succumbed to temptation. Joseph, entrusted with everything in his master’s house, except the wife of his master. A temptation is a force that draws us toward the prohibited. In the moment, it may seem like the sole solution to fulfilling our needs, but obtaining it often results in losing everything else. Just like Adam and Eve were tempted and deceived into thinking the forbidden tree was better than the trees they were permitted to eat from, only to learn too late that they lost everything when they chased their appetite. It is prudent to identify and understand what God has deemed off-limits. Our ignorance often leads us to pursue the forbidden. Recognize that God’s restrictions are for our well-being, safeguarding our future. Joseph wisely acknowledged his limitations to Mrs. Potiphar (Genesis 39:9), illustrating that our knowledge of permissible boundaries forms a secure zone. Let us dwell within the boundary of the safe zone God prepared for us in His wisdom.

Prayer_Bead: Almighty God, thank you for teaching me to identify temptation’s red zones. Help me to stay away from what is wrong. In Jesus name. Amen.

Wisdom_Quote: A temptation is a pull or a push towards the one thing you are forbidden to have.

Mirroring Jesus

[The Glory Unveiled]

“For me to live is Christ [His life in me], and to die is gain [the gain of the glory of eternity].” [ ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭1‬:‭21‬ ‭AMPC‬‬ ]

The believer does not have a life of their own because, technically, every believer is a living dead human. Their old self died with Christ on the cross, and the only person who is legally permitted to live is Christ, who resurrected. This means that our lives become a shadow of the life of Jesus, a reflection of His life. Intentionally, our lives can be a mirror reflection of the life of Jesus. A mirror reflects only the objects in front of it. Similarly, for our lives to mirror Jesus, we must stay close to Him. In other words, the Lord Jesus must be present in our lives if we are to reflect Him to our world. This brings us to the foundation of the Christian faith—the Lord Jesus as Lord in our lives, our lives submitted to Him in all things. The disciples were referred to as the lookalikes of Jesus because they stayed with Him. When we let Jesus live through us, our own lives disappear. Thus, when we let go of what we are, we become what we might be. God’s original picture of us is Christ Jesus. Hence, we become who we are supposed to be when we bear the image of Jesus. And we bear the image of Jesus only when we absorb His identity in our relationship with Him. And in this relationship, we cannot call the shots of our lives anymore. We are merely living out the instructions and desires of another, Jesus Christ. Let Jesus be seen through you (the body He has saved).

Prayer_Bead: Lord of the universe, thank you for the privilege to live your life and manifest your glory.

Wisdom_Quote: You become what you might be when you let go of what you are.
