Find Him first

[The Glory Unveiled]

For those who find me [Wisdom] find life and receive favour from the LORD. [ Proverbs 8:35 NIV ]

In this passage, the Lord Jesus is beautifully personified as Wisdom. Proverbs 8:22 declares,

“The LORD brought me forth as the first of His works, before His deeds of old.”

Then, in John 1:1, He is revealed as the Word—the same eternal One who is described as the first of God’s works. Here we see a profound truth: the beginning of all creation, the foundation of all things, is found in Him. The scripture tells us, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom.” This means that our reverent awe and relationship with God is the very entry point to knowing Jesus. Our access to Him starts with fear of the Lord—a gateway to wisdom itself. From our anchor scripture, we understand another principle: favor is preceded by wisdom. In other words, the Lord shows favor to those who seek Him, those who find Jesus. This is why the Bible calls wisdom a principal thing:

“Get wisdom; get understanding in all your getting.”

When wisdom precedes all that we possess, then what we have becomes enough to satisfy all our needs. If God created everything through Wisdom, then it is wisdom that enables our lives to flourish. Just as a fish cannot survive without water, so humans cannot truly thrive without Jesus—the One personified by Wisdom. Wisdom is not just an accessory; it is essential to life itself. It is the foundation, the guide, the source through which our needs are met, our paths directed, and our lives enriched. Without it, we may exist, but we cannot flourish.
