It is good

[The Glory Unveiled]

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. [ Romans 8:28 KJV ]

What we describe as “good” varies from one person to another. What one person considers good, another may consider undesirable. And so, by human estimation, it can be difficult to determine what “good” really is. But when God defines something as good, we can rest in the certainty of His judgement. This is why Paul’s words in Romans 8:28 are so powerful: “We know that all things work together for good to them that love God.” Notice that Paul does not say that all things are good. He says that all things work together for good. There is a significant difference. God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love Him. And here is the part that often baffles us: we tend to think that only good things, according to our estimation, can contribute to our good. But God works on a much larger canvas. He takes the good, the bad, the unplanned, the painful, the ugly and the disappointing, and brings them together in a masterful symphony that ultimately produces something good. God has a way of working through our mess and our stress to create a beauty we could not have imagined. What appears to be a contradiction in one moment can become a contribution to His greater purpose in the next. What looks like a setback may be another instrument in the hands of the Master, helping Him compose something beautiful from the fragments of our lives. So, do not be consumed by the drama unfolding around you. Whether what you are experiencing looks good or bad, remember that you do not have the full picture. Your present experience is not the final interpretation of your story. God is still working. In the creation account, God repeatedly looked upon what He had made and declared it good. If the God who created all things is still sovereignly working in our lives, then we can trust that nothing He does or permits is beyond His ability to redeem and weave into His good purpose. Therefore, stay grounded in your love for God. Keep trusting Him when you understand and when you do not. Keep walking with Him when the pieces make sense and when they do not. You may not understand everything that is happening, but you can trust the One who is working everything together. In His hands, even the things that hurt can become part of something beautiful.
