Attributes of Faith

[The Glory Unveiled]

By faith they passed through the Red Sea as by dry land, whereas the Egyptians, attempting to do so, were drowned. [ Hebrews 11:29 NKJV ]

The Exodus was not merely a historical journey from Egypt to Canaan. It was the living expression of faith in motion. Every instruction God gave through Moses, every step Israel took, every action demanded of them was designed to train them in the language of faith. Nothing in that journey was random. Every movement and every act was instructional. Faith was encoded into the entire process. Whenever Moses instructed the Israelites to do something, he was not merely organizing a nation in transit—he was leading them into the heart of faith. Through obedience, they were being taught how to respond to the Word of God beyond logic, beyond sight, and beyond human strength. Faith was not just something they confessed; it became something they practiced. When God told them to march out of Egypt, faith was at work. When they stood before the Red Sea with no visible escape and still moved forward at the command of God, faith was at work. Every act of obedience became an announcement that God’s Word was more reliable than their circumstances. The crossing of the Red Sea is one of the clearest pictures of this reality. Scripture says they passed through the sea on dry ground by faith. Faith became the vehicle that carried them where nature said they could never go. The Egyptians entered the same sea, but they lacked the one thing Israel possessed—faith in the Word of God. They had chariots, horses, and military strength, but human power cannot substitute for faith. What carried Israel forward destroyed Egypt behind them. This is the mystery of faith: the same situation that becomes a pathway for one person can become destruction for another, depending on their response to God’s Word. Throughout the Exodus, we see the attributes of faith manifested repeatedly—trust, obedience, endurance, surrender, and dependence on God. Every miracle was tied to a response of faith. Heaven moved when men agreed with God. The lesson is clear: everything becomes possible at the Word of God when faith aligns with it. God’s Word creates the possibility, but faith becomes the channel through which that possibility manifests.
