You’re valuable

[The Glory Unveiled]

You were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies. [ 1 Corinthians 6:20 NIV ]

Anything worth paying for is valuable and worth having. This is why people are willing to spend greatly on whatever they consider precious. We spend our money, our time, our energy, and our resources on the things we deem important because what we are willing to pay reveals what we believe something is worth. So when Scripture says, “You were bought at a price” (1 Corinthians 6:20), it is revealing something profound about our value. We were not purchased cheaply. We were not redeemed with silver or gold. We were bought with the precious blood of Jesus Christ. If Jesus was willing to give His life for us, then our lives must be worth more than we often imagine. The Cross is not merely a revelation of how sinful we were; it is also a revelation of how valuable we were to God. The price paid speaks of the value placed upon the object purchased. Therefore, we must learn to see ourselves through the lens of the price that was paid for us. We cannot continually despise what God considered worthy of the blood of His Son. We cannot live as though our lives are worthless when Heaven placed such an immeasurable value upon them. This understanding of our value must shape the way we live. If Christ gave His body for us, then our bodies are no longer ours to treat carelessly. The very body He purchased is now the temple of the Holy Spirit. The body that was bought by His blood must be lived for His glory. This is why Paul says, “Therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s”. The price paid for us should produce a holy esteem for who we are. It should create a godly sense of worth. You are not worthless. You are blood-bought. You were purchased at an immeasurable price. The Cross has already declared your worth. And when you truly understand what it cost Jesus to redeem you, you will stop living beneath the value Heaven placed upon your life—and you will begin to honour with your life the One who considered you worth dying for.
