[The Glory Unveiled]
“Don’t owe anything to anyone, except your outstanding debt to continually love one another, for the one who learns to love has fulfilled every requirement of the law.” [ Romans 13:8 TPT ]
Love is the ultimate debt that everyone owns. God demonstrated His love for us, so that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us, leaving us an example to follow. Love seems to be in low supply in a world that is in high demand for love. The solution to the world’s problems largely rests on love. Unfortunately, godly love has been tossed out of the window. The apostle Paul advises that we owe nothing to anyone except love. This suggests that we should try to owe no material debts as much as possible. The Bible records that we are “slaves” to those we obey (Romans 6:16), and debt can make anyone a slave to those they owe. As believers, we owe the Lord Jesus because of the love of God He displayed for our salvation. He instructs us to “pay” for this debt by loving others as He loves us. Loving people is an acknowledgment of the love of God within us. It is a way of sharing the identity of God within us with them. We all owe a love debt. The good thing about this debt, unlike other debts, is that the more we pay our debt, the more we resemble God. God expects us to go out into the world and pay our debts of love to everyone we encounter. Your small acts of kindness are the solution to someone’s challenges, the medicine for someone’s illness, and healing for someone’s pain. Everyone out there needs love and help, just as we do. You are equipped to help, so please do so.
