Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for you.” And his servant was healed that same hour. [ Matthew 8:13 NKJV ]
A centurion once came to Jesus concerning his servant who was lying at home, paralyzed and suffering greatly. When Jesus offered to come and heal him, the centurion explained that it was not necessary for Jesus to visit his house. Instead, he believed that Jesus only needed to speak a word, and his servant would be healed. Jesus was amazed at his faith. But what exactly did the centurion do to demonstrate such faith? In reality, he did nothing outwardly. Jesus recognized his faith through his understanding. Jesus saw the depth of the centurion’s belief through the revelation he had concerning the authority and power of God at work in Him. Jesus’ response also reveals an important truth: faith delivers only what belief orders. The centurion believed that Jesus had the authority to send healing to his servant without being physically present. That belief placed an order, and Jesus confirmed it by declaring that it would be done according to what the centurion had believed. True to the order that had been placed, the servant was healed that very hour. The manifestation we see after an act of faith often reveals the true nature of our belief. This is because faith does not produce results at random; it follows the instructions given by our beliefs and convictions. Therefore, if a response or manifestation is expected through faith but nothing is delivered, it may be that belief has not yet placed a clear order. Let your belief, firmly rooted in the ability, authority, and power of Jesus, place the order for the things you expect from God. As your understanding of who He is grows, your faith will have substance, direction, and confidence to receive what He has promised.
