[The Glory Unveiled]
And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” [ Genesis 2:16-17 NKJV ]
Adam and Eve were given a guide to help them live successfully in the Garden. The Garden of Eden was more than a location; it was the environment of God — a realm where His presence was accessible, His voice was clear, and fellowship with Him was unhindered. Yet even in such an environment, God established boundaries and gave instruction. He told Adam, “Of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat.” The command was not meant to restrict life, but to preserve it, because that tree carried death within it. That is why God warned, “In the day you eat of it, you shall surely die.” This reveals something important: even in the environment of God, death existed, but it had no power unless man activated it through disobedience. In the same way, the believer has now been brought into a greater reality through Christ. We have access to the life of God, fellowship with the Father, and communion with Heaven. Yet we still require a guide, just as Adam did. The difference is that our Guide is not merely a command but a Person — the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Love. Love is the guide, and the Holy Spirit is the Person who leads us in it. He teaches us continually, leads us into all truth, and guards us from the deception of the enemy, just as Adam needed protection from the serpent’s subtlety. But now the instruction is not simply, “Do not eat.” The instruction is deeper and higher: “Love.” The life of the believer is meant to be governed by divine love. Every leading of the Spirit brings us into the character of Christ and keeps us aligned with the life of God. As long as we walk according to the Spirit, we walk in life, truth, and safety. Let us therefore submit ourselves to the Guide God has given us. Let us live by the Spirit, walk in love, and daily express the nature of the Father to the world around us..
